What Documents and Licence to Rent a Car in Morocco?

Before renting a car in Fes or anywhere in Morocco, you need a few documents. Here is the complete list and conditions to know.

Driving licence

You must present a driving licence held for at least 2 years. For foreign tourists, a national licence is accepted in most cases. An international licence is recommended but not always required if your licence is in Latin characters.

ID or passport

A valid ID or passport is required. The agency keeps a copy for the contract.

Minimum age

The minimum age to rent a car in Fes is generally 21. For some luxury vehicles (like the VW Touareg), a minimum age of 25 may be required.

Security deposit (franchise)

A deposit, also called franchise, of minimum 5000 MAD is required at pickup. It can be paid by credit card imprint or cash, and is fully refunded on return of the vehicle in the same condition.

A credit card

A credit card in the main driver's name is needed for the deposit and to secure the rental.
